A personal art challenge started in the boredom of the 2020 pandemic, this tarot project is inspired by my loves for both tarot reading and Netflix's Castlevania anime. I am gradually illustrating all 22 Major Arcana, influenced heavily by the classic Rider-Waite deck, each card reimagined with a particular character or element of the animated series in mind. This deck is stylized after the art nouveau design sensibilities traditionally associated with tarot: flat gestures, bold line work and graphic symbolism, while also aiming to capture the flavor of contemporary anime.
